Recipe tips and kitchen tricks

  1. Use russet or Yukon gold potatoes for the best texture and flavor in your Baked Hashbrown Patties.
  2. Squeeze out excess moisture from the grated potatoes to achieve crispier patties.
  3. For extra flavor, add minced garlic or your favorite herbs and spices to the potato mixture.
  4. Grease the baking sheet generously to prevent sticking.
  5. Flip the patties halfway through baking for even browning on both sides.
  6. If you prefer a softer texture, you can parboil the grated potatoes for a few minutes before mixing them with the other ingredients.
  7. Experiment with different toppings and dips, such as sour cream, salsa, or ketchup, to enhance the taste of your hash brown patties.
  8. Make a large batch and freeze the extras for quick and convenient breakfast options.
  9. Consider adding shredded cheese or diced vegetables to the mixture for added flavor and nutrition.
  10. Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet, as this can lead to uneven cooking. Leave some space between the patties for proper air circulation.

    • I have not tried this recipe without the egg. It is used here as a binder so that the hashbrowns hold their shape. You may be able to add some flour as a binder or an egg substitute like ground chia seeds. However, I do not know what this would do to the flavor profile.
