Ingredients

basmati rice
1½

water

teaspoon

Instructions
Rinse basmati rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear.
Optional soak the rice for 15 to 20 minutes then drain.
Combine rice water and salt in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Reduce heat to low cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and let rice rest covered for 10 minutes.
Fluff with a fork before serving.
Notes
Rinse basmati rice well to remove excess starch.
Soaking helps produce longer, fluffier grains.
Keep the lid closed during cooking.
Let rice rest before fluffing.
Use broth instead of water for additional flavor.
