Maxwell House International Coffee brand instant coffee mix was a little luxury of mine for a few years. I had several favorite flavors I enjoyed and really liked being able to whip up a hot drink at a moment’s notice. Coffee in our office was not that great so it quickly became my afternoon pick-me-up, but buying those drink mixes each week really adds up! So when I saw this recipe for Instant Latte Mix from Taste of Home, I was ecstatic.
Now, creating my own Instant Vanilla Latte Mix is easy and economical. For about the price of two of the pre-made mix canisters, I can make several different varieties. By swapping out one or two of the flavoring ingredients, the flavor profile possibilities are almost limitless. I keep a jar of this in my desk drawer and it’s a nice little pick-me-up in the afternoon. At home, I like to enjoy a cup in the evening while we relax and enjoy some family time. It’s great for gift-giving, too. Do you have a coffee lover on your list?

I did not add the vanilla pudding, as I did not have to. My goal was to replicate the same taste in the Starbucks Via Instant Vanilla Latte mix, a 1.09 oz packet, which the company stupidly discontinued. My only change to the original recipe above would be to cut back on the additional sugar, which was just too much (I cut out a quarter cup, and may cut more). I did basically the same thing with the STBX mix, which specified a packet to 8 oz. of hot water. That was just waaaay too much sweetness for me. So I modified that by using their one packet to 16 oz. of water (not 8 oz) The taste was perfect. So, save yourself some calories, which serve no purpose except to increase weight and heart disease anyway. You may have to do a few trial-and-error tastings to get to your taste requirements.
I’m addicted to the Maxwell House cappuccino mix, that you mix with milk. Can I mix this with milk and add ice?
I believe you could but the base already includes the powdered milk so that all that is required is water. It’s still creamy once the milk reconstituted with the water.
Made this for a camping trip. So luxurious to have my latte even at the lake
